In addition to Wreath from Digistamps4Joy, I used Prismacolor Premier colored pencils in the following colors: Grass Green (PC 909), Dark Green (PC 908), Yellow Ochre (PC 942), Lemon Yellow (PC 915), Sunburst Yellow (PC 917), Carmine Red (PC 926), Crimson Red (PC 924), 50% French Grey (PC 1072) and a craft knife with glass cutting mat to fussy cut out the wreath. The cardstock is from my stash, the holly leaves were leftover from another project (cut from Cricut Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge – Tag – #M44E8F – retired) and Ranger Tim Holtz’s Distress Stickles in Fired Brick. I used Thin 3-D Foam Tape (Z2060) to attach the wreath to the card front.

If Facebook Progressive Challenges are new to you, you have until the end of the month to purchase the current image for $1 and post your creation in the Digistamps4Joy Stamping Facebook Group. Embossing with Stencils and/or Masks

June 19, 2016 Comments off

During the “Last Chance Christmas Cuties…” show on Create and Craft (Sunday, June 19 at 3pm EDT), Carley Duff showed us how to use the Midas Touch Christmas Masks (item 147013) to emboss some paper. Here’s the order (from top to bottom) how Carley layered the materials to emboss using the Crossover Machine (item 137423).

  1. acrylic plate (clear)
  2. rubber mat
  3. paper
  4. stencil
  5. base plate (white)

Since the Crossover Machine is still on my wish list, I will have to experiment when my stencil arrives to see if I do something similar with the machines I have access to.

Digistamps4Joy May 2016 Progressive Challenge – Tutu Tammy

May 15, 2016 Comments off

I created this card using Tutu Tammy, the image for the Digistamps4Joy stamping Facebook Group‘s May 2016 Facebook Progressive Challenge.

Lapp DS4J Tutu Tammy

In addition to Tutu Tammy from Digistamps4Joy, I used the following products to create my card: Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Pencils then I used a craft knife and glass mat to cut around the image, Hunkydory Adorable Scorable cardstock, which I embossed using a Tattered Lace Rose Stripe embossing folderPlain Rainbow Card that was cut using a Tattered Lace Spiral Rose Die and Tattered Lace Sentiment Strips 8 Piece Die Set, a card base and ribbon from my stash and a quilling tool.

A note about flowers. All of the 3D flowers were created with the Tattered Lace Spiral Rose Die.

Tattered Lace Spiral Rose Die - use the waste

The larger flowers were created with the die cut and the smaller flowers were created with the waste and a small circle of paper. I just ripped a small circle to glue the flower to (slightly smaller than the center of the die cut). The circle does not need to be perfect, but since I was using a paper with a white core I made sure the white edges were facing down. I used Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive to hold my flowers together.

I used the following pencil colors: 27 – Light Carmine, 29 – Pink Madder Lake, 31 – Medium Flesh, 32 – Light Flesh, 49 – Oriental Blue, 76 – Vany Dyke Brown, 80 – Raw Umber, 82 – Brown Ochre, 83 – Gold Ochre, 99 – Black Medium

Hello world!

March 6, 2012 Comments off

Welcome to my new blog. I am a crafter, but unfortunately I also work outside the home to pay for pesky living expenses so I sometimes have difficulty finding enough time to devote to my projects. Right now my focus is making cards and I need to push myself to make more scrapbook pages. I also love textiles – I have made some quilts and a couple of pieces of clothing though I have to say I always feel old wearing them. I like to dye my own fabrics. I’ve painted some fabric too. I have tried knitting (with needles) but I just don’t have the coordination so I either use a machine or a board when I take time for it. I crochet a little, but not that often. I am constantly looking for craft projects that are easy and inexpensive to make while allowing me to incorporate my family history. I donate them to our family reunion to be auctioned to raise money for the following year.
